Daily Prayer for October 2nd, 2021
Good morning, God—thank you for this Saturday!
I look to You and Your Word as my only source of guidance, beliefs, and values. As for enjoying wine, I see that you warn against alcohol abuse. Because everything I do, I should do to celebrate you to show you that I love you. Care for my gifted temple. Therefore, not become reliant but enjoy occasional wine for health and celebration with a merry heart. So —not get drunk, lest I drink, and forget about you and your glory! Thank you for life itself, for food from the earth, and for wine. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
