Daily Prayer for September 20th, 2021
Dear God,
In yesterday’s prayer, Matthew 16:18 states that Jesus built his Church on Peter. Will you please give me more understanding through your Word about this topic? —your Word, in the Holy Bible, in which I believe entirely, and where you do not allow lies.
Is what seems like a false impression due to translation? Jesus built his Church on the revelation the Holy Spirit gave Peter: that Jesus is your son. Because in Greek, the words written sometimes show a relationship not so apparent in English, where Jesus responds to Peter’s declaration that he, Jesus, is Christ—your son.
Therefore, he declared Peter is blessed for understanding and insisted that this wisdom was given to Peter by you—the rock on which you will establish your Church is in Peter’s confession stated in Matthew 16:16 below.
But, the best news is that we who come to you through faith in Christ as our Savior stand because Jesus is the Messiah. Your son—the power that keeps the evil one from taking down we believers in Christ—your people—your Church! Hallelujah! Holy is your name! Amen.
18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
