Daily Prayer for December 7th, 2020

Good Monday morning, God—thank you! 😊

It’s contradicting when, in your word, Matthew said, ‘do not judge”, and John said, “Do not judge by appearances but judge with right judgment.” I believe that what you are saying is we should not be superficial in our assessment of other people. Holy Spirit, let me not point my finger at another in judgment, as that is your job—let me look at the heart—“defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
But, we should good from evil. If not, the enemy will continue to take drastic measures of silencing us in Christ. You can’t have that! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Matthew 7:1 ESV

Judging Others

“Judge not, that you be not judged.

John 7:24 ESV

24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

1 Samuel 16:7 ESV

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Proverbs 31:9 ESV

Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Romans 2:1-2 The Message

God Is Kind, but Not Soft

1-2 Those people are on a dark siral downward. But if you think that leaves you on the high ground where you can point your finger at others, think again. Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself. It takes one to know one. Judgmental criticism of others is a well-known way of escaping detection in your own crimes and misdemeanors. But God isn’t so easily diverted. He sees right through all such smoke screens and holds you to what you’ve done.
