Daily Prayer for September 10th, 2020

Good morning, God—thank you!! 🙂

Nowhere in your word (the Holy Bible) says that a Christian in this life will be completely perfect—we who are free from all sin. As long as I live on this earth, I will struggle with fault. We have been made righteous through Jesus’ perfect blood, not our own. That is why I keep close to you. I count on you to help lead me away from temptation and harm. I desire to follow you and walk in your love. Intellectually, and with morals and decency, I will regretfully sin again. Being that my fellowship with you is off, my relationship with you is not. Just because I sin doesn’t mean I am no longer your child. That is when you want me to look to you more closely. Live by the Spirit and not be gratified by the desires of my flesh. The carnal mind creates eternal war. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness if I do sin, Father—for Jesus Christ, my advocate. Amen.

1 John 1:8 ESV

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 John 2:1 ESV

Christ Our Advocate

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Romans 8:1-9 ESV

Life in the Spirit

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact, the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

1 John 2:29 ESV

29 If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

1 Peter 1:14 ESV

14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,

Galatians 5:17 ESV

17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

Romans 6:14 ESV

14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
