Daily Prayer for August 24th, 2020

Good morning, God—thank you for this Monday! 🙂

We Christians fight a great battle as we face the enemy that wages war against us, with a more constant rival and foothold inside of every believer, which involves us in relentless strife between our new man in Christ, and our old sinful flesh. Hostile against one another, producing internal contention within the soul. There will never be a truce between you and evil, never a ceasefire, but an ongoing battle. Feeling the intensity of this internal strife means that I am born again in Christ. Hallelujah! Now, I want to do right/your will, because I love you, and it shows. However, there will always be this inner tug-of-war. But I know that you have already won the match. Thank you for that though Jesus; I have faith, joy, peace, and hope to carry me through. Amen.

Romans 7:15-20 ESV

15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
