Daily Prayer for July 15th, 2020

Good morning, God—thank you! 🙂

I am of flesh by nature—by birth, because of my abutment with Adam. Innocently, I fall short of your glory. Therefore, I’m impaired not only to comprehend your law, but inclined to disobey it even when I understand. Thank you, Father, for sending Jesus to free me/of sin, and the Holy Spirit (your Spirit) to live and dwell in me to give me enough power to turn from evil. Please help me to keep my mind on you in faith, which brings life and peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Galatians 2:20 ESV

20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

1 Peter 2:11 ESV

11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

Galatians 5:17 ESV

17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

Romans 8:6 ESV

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

Galatians 5:22-23 ESV

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law.

Romans 8:14 ESV

14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
