Daily Prayer for July 11th, 2019

Good morning, God—thank You! 🙂

Food for thought. Birds have long been a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Renderings of Your Spirit generally contain one of two elements, white light or red flames. The white dove represents purity and peace in the light of the Spirit, and the red cardinal represents the fire and vitality of the living Spirit, correct? And, is the cardinal a symbol of the living blood of Christ and vitality? Are, both cardinals and blood, symbols of life which is everlasting? The four key words that stem from the root translation of the word cardinal are key, hinge, heart, and cross. These four cardinal aspects as they relate to Christian tradition may open some new thoughts for me about faith, Christ, and cardinals.

“By His blood, we are freed from sin to serve the living God, to glorify Him, and to enjoy Him forever.”

Tell me, traditionally, the cardinal is symbolic of life, hope, and restoration. These symbols connect cardinal birds to the living faith, and so do they come to remind us, that though circumstances might look bleak, there is always hope? Now, I know for a fact that with You there is hope, but I am curious about the birds of Heaven. In Jesus name. Amen.
