Daily Prayer for May 24th, 2021

Good morning, God—thank you for this Monday! 😊

I fear you, but that’s to say, although you gaze not on my outward appearance, I still want to look, feel, and be the best that I can be. Not compete with anyone, yet feel good about me—be better than the person I was yesterday. But, before anything else, I check the closeness in my relationship with you, as true beauty is from you and not of the world—inward, not out. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Proverbs 31:30

30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

1 Peter 3:3-4

Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.

2 Corinthians 4:18

18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
