Daily Prayer for February 17th, 2020

Good morning, God—thank you! 🙂

If someone seems deranged, let me not be so quick to judge. Please help me to keep in mind that the individual might be suffering; loneliness, loss, pain, concern, etc. Which can lead to sleep deprivation, confusion, negative thinking, empty or boastful talk, paranoia, insecurities, and the list goes on. We all go through struggles, and we never know when one is afflicted. Holy Spirit, help me to have compassion for others and love my neighbor as myself. After all, that is your second greatest command. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

1 Corinthians 12:26 English Standard Version (ESV)

26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Matthew 7:1 English Standard Version (ESV)

Judging Others

“Judge not, that you be not judged.

John 8:7 English Standard Version (ESV)

And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”

1 Corinthians 13 English Standard Version (ESV)

The Way of Love

13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Matthew 22:36-40 New International Version (NIV)

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
