Daily Prayer for October 4th, 2018 Â
Good morning, lover of my soul! 🙂
Thank You for calling me Your friend. Every day You desire to speak to me and guide me in spirit and truth. Holy Spirit, let me hear Your voice and obey You. Your Word says Your sheep know Your voice, and will not follow the mutter of a stranger. God, guard my heart against the influences of this world, let me not be deceived, and make all decisions through the lens of Jesus, and His blood and righteousness. Amen.
James 2:23Â New International Version (NIV)
23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
James 1:19-27Â New International Version (NIV)
Listening and Doing
19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
Matthew 7:24Â New International Version (NIV)
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Luke 11:28Â New International Version (NIV)
28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
James 1:22Â New International Version (NIV)
22Â Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Philippians 4:9Â New International Version (NIV)
9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
